Let them have cake...
I tell you now that I am not a massive cake eater but on occasion I will get a real craving for a pastry or cake and anything tasting remotely or even intensely of lemons will fit the bill. As Julie Andrews once sang "Here are a few of my favourite things..." Whiskers on kittens and warm woolen mittens be damned! Gimme Tarte Citron!
Lemon meringue pie, every time. I love the stuff, but I'm quite fussy about it since I learned how to make it properly, and it's now basically my signature dish with the family.
I could eat all of them right now. Seriously, although I make a lot of cakes, I don't actually eat cake very often. But my real weakness is for anything with chocolate and nuts in. Gooey chocolate & hazlenut brownies.....served with a dollop of clotted cream.

ReplyDeleteI'll plump (the operative word with the size of my belly) for an egg custard or an elephant's foot.

Anything lemony certainly hits the spot - though your madelines do take some beating!!!
ReplyDeleteRhubarb crumble, which has become quite popular and fashionable in France, but pronounced "croomble".
