Fresh plums with a sting!

One of my neighbours invited me round to pick some plums from her tree (er, not an innuendo) and gave a plastic bag to fill. The air was alive with wasps and many of the plums had already been 'eaten' by the flying beasties. I was lucky not to get stung, especially as I sat on my doorstep later on taking the stones out and getting fruit juice all over myself and my hands. Ever been stung or bitten by insects who like fruit?

I take my life into my hands literally when dumping the empties at the receptacle near our house. The wasps treat it as their social club and I swear they are waiting for my little car to arrive and get ready to try and get me,

The plums on my mums tree are just about ready. No big wasp problems but we will harvest most of them this week. I feel some of mummy's jam coming on. Yay!
Hate wasps. What purpose do they serve in Mother Nature's world? Bees yes. Wasps no.

I picked all my blackberies yesterday and bought some pears. Lightly simmered to just soft and added a little sugar. Now just the crumble top to make and I have a pudding for two days. Yummy!

This week as i was driving around to and fro i came upon a mess of yellow fruit in the gutter on a clearway on the A57 so i parked in a layby and walked the 1/2 mile back and found red yellow and plum...plums all going rotten so i picked one or two, After weighing i found i had 20 pounds of mixed plums that have now (thanks to mum) been turned into pie, Jam, Jelly and a lot more frozen for winter so not a bad days scrumping in all and should last at least a bit of the winter :)
Must be another 100 pounds of plums on the trees at least and more than that on the floor already, Such a waste and shame.
