Dried herbs out of date?
I gave up buying dried herbs some while ago but still have a few bottles in my store cupboard and on checking yesterday I found that most are way out of date. I'm sure I'm not the only to experience this. Do you have a spice rack where a lot of the dried herbs and spices are pre- Christopher Columbus?

I check most of the stuff in my pantry regularly, but admit to quite a few herbs & spices long past their 'best before' dates. And most of them are still perfectly ok. One problem is I often buy refil packets, & decant them into the old glass jars....resulting in me not having a clue when they have expired.
I had a lot of 'expired' herbs which I threw out recently. Besides buying herbs from the local market here, I bring some dried herbs from India too. Well, one does tend to go overboard with such shopping especially when one knows certain herbs are not available where one lives!
